Wooroloo Fire Quilt Drive

WAQA Community Quilts joined with Hills Fabric and Craft De-Stash in a quilt drive for the families affected by the recent fires in the Wooroloo area. The intention was to collect sufficient new quilts of varying sizes, and thus provide each member of these families with an item to treasure as they began to rebuild their lives following their losses. The collection of quilts ended on 31 March and due to the generosity of quilters throughout WA and other states the final count was close to 850.

A public display of the quilts was held at Percy Cullen Pavilion on the morning of Saturday 8th May. The invited affected families then attended on Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon to select quilts assisted by helpers from WAQA, CWA and Red Cross.
